The Friendship Project

Whizz Fizz Fest 2023

What started off as a zoom call with the Whizz Fizz Fest, Buckinghamshire Council, Buckinghamshire Culture and Cue34 became a theatrical spectacle centred around friendship, connection and creativity.

This project was in partnership with local artists Olivia Davis and Harsha Basu who ran workshops in local primary schools. The students created material patches and decorated paper dolls exploring what friendship and connection meant to them. Cue34 then took the artwork and devised a 10 minute rolling theatrical performance based around two characters: Penny and Patch. The artwork inspired the characters' development, the design of costumes and the problems the characters faced. This was facilitated and developed by the talented team at Cue34 Elizabeth Went and Catherine Simons. Local Musical Director Stephanos Karageorgi also created an original piece of music inspired by the art work which became an integral part of the performance. Cue34 were delighted to work with energising actors: Airlie Delyse and Kat Cordell. With the gold standard of Stage Management from Tamasin Cook, the piece then toured to the WhizzFizzFest (Aylesbury), Desborough Carnival (Wycombe) and Hats Off Festival (Chesham).

Friendship Project
Really enjoyable performance with easy to understand message and values. Both of my children were focused and it was a great performance.
